Terms of service
Last updated: June 2026
These terms govern your taos.my account and the taOSgo remote-access service. The taOS software itself is open source and covered by its own licence; these terms cover the hosted account and subscription you buy from us, not what you run on your own hardware. Please read them before creating an account.
Who we are
taos.my and taOSgo are operated by jaylfc, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@taos.my.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and buy a subscription. By creating an account you confirm that the details you give us are accurate and that you are able to enter into these terms.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@taos.my if you think it has been accessed without your permission. You may close your account at any time from your account page; doing so cancels any active subscription and removes your host from the network.
Acceptable use
Use the service lawfully. Do not use it to break the law, to infringe others' rights, to send spam or malware, to attack or probe our infrastructure, to circumvent access controls or usage limits, or to resell the service without our agreement. We may suspend or close an account that does these things, and we will act proportionately.
taOSgo subscription and billing
taOSgo is a paid subscription that provides remote access to your own taOS host. Payments are handled by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details. Where a free trial is offered, it converts to a paid subscription when the trial ends unless you cancel first. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period at the price shown at checkout until you cancel. We will give reasonable notice of any price change before it takes effect.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel anytime from your account page; cancellation stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you are a UK or EU consumer you may have a statutory 14-day right to cancel a new purchase; because the service is supplied digitally and access begins immediately, that right can be affected once you start using it, but we will honour any right you have under consumer law. For a refund request or a billing problem, contact support@taos.my and we will deal with it fairly.
The software and your host
The taOS software is open source and provided under its own licence (see the repository). These terms do not change that licence. What runs on your own host, and the data on it, is yours and your responsibility; our service only connects you to it and manages your subscription.
Availability
We work to keep the service running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may carry out maintenance, and we may change or withdraw features. The service is provided "as is" to the extent the law allows.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable, for loss of data you did not keep a copy of, or for business losses; and our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in that period. Because your data lives on your own host, keeping your own backups stays your responsibility.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. If a change is significant we will take reasonable steps to tell you, for example by email or a notice on the site. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Ending these terms
You can stop using the service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we must to comply with the law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may also have the benefit of mandatory rules of the country you live in.
